AMETEC-UNU (Tokyo) Joint Workshop on Passive Air Sampling_2011

We are glad to announce that AMETEC in collaboration with UNU, Tokyo will conduct a Training workshop on "Passive Air Sampling: Long range transport of persistent organic pollutants (OCPs)" during October 10-21, 2011 at South Sea Research Branch of KORDI, Geoje, Korea. The participants will be National Program Coordinators of Coastal Hydrosphere Project at UNU, Tokyo and University students.

Postdoctoral opportunity at KORDI

A Post doctoral research position is currently available at Oil and POPs Research Group, South Sea Research Institute, Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute (KORDI), Geoje, Korea. The potential candidate should be a recent PhD holder on any one of the following fields: Flame retardant research (environmental contamination), emerging pollutants including pharmaceuticals, Persistent Organic Pollutants, especially dioxins. AMETEC October-November 2009

Dear Friends:

The preparation for the AMETEC October workshop has begun. The tentative theme of the workshop will be "Oil spill: Chemistry and Biochemical responses".

The course will consist of lectures and practical laboratory work. Space is available for up to 10 participants from APEC economies. Participants should hold (at a minimum) a B.Sc. in biology, biochemistry or chemistry; they should be prepared to undertake practical laboratory work, and should be able to work comfortably in English. Each participant will also be expected to present and lead an informal evening discussion of his/her economy’s assessment of its marine pollution concerns.

KORDI alumni who has participated in previous year's workshops need not apply. However, you are encouraged to recommend applicant from your economy.

The course will be held at KORDI (Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute) South Sea Institute, Geoje Island, South Korea, in October-November 2009. Selected participants will be supported financially by AMETEC. Expressions of interest, including the candidate’s brief curriculum vitae and a short description of his/her job responsibilities, should be sent to:
